Do superheroes train or are their superpowers more than enough? We’ll never know, but what we can already know is that Marvel will soon land on our cell phones with a purpose-built workout for us with the help-perhaps a bit brutal at times-of some of its superheroes.
It’s called “Marvel Move,” it’s coming this summer, and it was developed by Six to Start, that know a thing or two about fun and challenging fitness apps, being the folks behind Zombies, Run!
Marvel’s app will have a similar pattern, and since it is one of the major story-creating powerhouses, it is not surprising that it offers not workouts but stories. Five in particular:
- Thor & Loki: Asgard 5K Training
This is an 8-week training that will take you to run, precisely, five kilometers. The special thing is that you will do this with the assistance of the voices of Thor and Loki. - X-Men: Age of ORCHIS
In this scenario you will have to work alongside Wolverine, Storm, Jean Grey and others in Krakoa searching for mutants. - The Hulk: Hulkville
In this story you must escape along with Bruce and Betty Banner as they try to hide none other than the Hulk from the rest of the world. - Daredevil: Terminal Degree
In this scenario you are in law school and must help Daredevil defeat an intricate and secretive criminal network. - Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch: In Dreams.
Are you ready to help Doctor Strange and Scarlet escape from a place that is totally unknown to you?
Certainly the stories sound compelling, at least as much as there is curiosity about how they will be put into practice through an app that will serve you, in any case, to train while having fun.
Marvel and Six to Start have also thought about accessibility to the game, and in fact have provided increasing levels of difficulty that allow anyone to train, even those in wheelchairs.
Availability
As mentioned, the app will be distributed for iOS and Android devices starting next summer and will cost-in the U.S.-$74.99 per year. Membership in the Marvel Move Founders Club, on the other hand, costs $99 but guarantees two years of inclusive subscription to Marvel Move.
