We absorbed this scheme as a fixed fact, scheduling long races under the summer sun with the certainty that the effort would find shelter in the next season. An environmental medicine expert pointed out in the pages of STAT that we are facing a public health problem, made critical by the fact that first aid stations along the courses don&#8217;t record clinical data with standardized parameters. Without rigorous data collection on the consequences of heat, we keep relying on habits that no longer match the actual atmosphere.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"training-for-a-probability\">Training for a Probability<\/h2>\n<p>Putting together an athletic build-up takes months of progressive loads and meticulous pacing, but today that effort is meant to face an event governed by probability.
