While this system has a valid justification in certain areas (such as that it is better not to take work home and not to let these spheres affect each other) there are other areas where one should try to take a more comprehensive view as possible. The simplest example is that of training, considered by many to be a stand-alone activity whereas-and we repeat this like always-it should be imagined as an integral part of a triad that also includes nutrition and recovery: you get tired (you train), you rest (you recover), you get fed (for your next workout). This broader view allows us to understand what connections there are between different aspects of our lives and how they affect each other. Even the training itself can be integrated and made more effective if it is framed in a broader context: there are not only the activity of running or biking but other types of training or preparations that help you be more efficient in your chosen discipline.

In this installment of Outliers we discuss certain activities that are normally considered incidental and therefore neglected. Instead, they are most important not only because of the direct benefit they cause to the body and mind but also because they refine and improve the athletic gesture, allowing you to train with a more harmoniously developed tool (your body).

Come iniziare lo yoga e perché migliora le tue performance

Let’s talk about stretching, yoga, and warming up: how many people practice these activities seriously? How many because it is best to do so and not out of conviction or even pleasure?

Today we want to make you want to try it, explaining how useful they are and how much more than just physical benefits you can get from them. Yoga in particular is regarded as physically useless because it requires little effort (and you don’t know how wrong you are to think that), not to mention stretching and warming up, things that hard-core runners don’t do, right?
Wrong: The more you love the sport you do, the better you want to do it, and these activities really help you in being more complete or whole in running or swimming and biking.

Besides the fact that they are great for the mind and spirit, and lately there is a very very great need for them.

Stretching: sì o no?

Have you sent your Lovers Mail yet?

In recent weeks we launched the second season of Lovers Mail.
