Change starts with the gestures of each of us, even when we run. We have talked about this many times before, and it is undisputed that we all need to do our part. So do we runners. Because to leave the first step to others is only to create alibis for ourselves.<\/p>\n

We runners, who are in touch with the environment every time we go out for a run in our running shoes<\/a>, know how important it is to preserve the planet we live on. And it is in this context that the Run for the Oceans<\/strong> initiative was born.<\/p>\n

June 8 will mark World Oceans Day, and what better way to celebrate them if by running we can improve their condition?<\/p>\n

The idea came from adidas, which, with Parley, launched this beautiful initiative in which, for every kilometer run, walk or wheelchair ride, the weight equivalent of 10 plastic bottles will be collected from beaches, remote islands and shorelines, up to a maximum of about 250 kilograms of waste.<\/p>\n

This initiative is part of a much larger context in which the German brand has demonstrated a truly remarkable environmental sensitivity. adidas has already recycled plastic waste from the land and oceans by turning it into more than 30 million pairs of shoes, but its goal is very ambitious: to use only recycled polyester in its products by 2024<\/strong>. Last year (2020), more than half of the polyester used in adidas products came from recycled plastic waste.
\nIt is in this context that adidas recently launched PRIMEBLUE the new 100% recycled high-performance yarn. Because, as we said before, everyone must contribute in his or her own way (and with his or her own resources) to respecting our planet.<\/p>\n

How to register for Run for the Oceans.<\/h2>\n

The initiative runs from May 28 to June 8, simply run using the adidas Running app and participate in the Run For The Oceans challenge found under the “Community” tab. Joining is super easy and you can find all the information described step-by-step on the website:
