Motherhood is thought of as the period that culminates in the birth of a new life. Actually that is only one part: pregnancy is definitely the most overwhelming part of a journey that then lasts for months and years.<\/p>\n

Motherhood is also one of the most radical changes a woman can experience, and it also often coincides with a sharp reduction in motor activity. This is not the case for many mothers-to-be who want to be able to play sports even during the wait and afterwards-even as, within certain limits of caution, does not hurt<\/a> – when they have to reconfigure their existence between caring for a small creature and the desire to get in shape and “recognize” themselves as they were before, even in the inevitable physical changes.<\/p>\n

Yet, paradoxically, until now there were very few offerings from the world of sportswear for pregnant women and new mothers. That’s why Nike thought of making a collection just for them, to accompany them until delivery and then beyond.<\/p>\n

Four garments for a changing body (and life)<\/h3>\n

To design this collection, Nike analyzed data on the physical changes of 150,000 pregnant women and talked to and listened to 30 of its top female athletes struggling with pregnancy.<\/p>\n

What emerged was an emotional and existential landscape that always focuses on the need to manage change while never losing the individual’s point of view, almost a gravitational center that is kept calibrated precisely through sporting activity.<\/p>\n

The collection consists of a camisole, a bra with which it is also possible to breastfeed, tight fits adaptable in materials and shape to physical and weight changes, and a shirt that can be easily opened at the front to free the breast and to wrap the infant, thanks to a studied “excess” of material.<\/p>\n

Garments from the Nike (M) collection will be available throughout Europe starting next September 17 in Nike stores and in-store<\/a>.<\/p>\n
