Nothing dramatic\u2014but you\u2019ll notice it.<\/p>\n<p>At the 4-week mark, muscle efficiency starts to take a hit. Your body uses more energy to do the same stuff. Movements become a bit less sharp, and while strength mostly holds, it starts to slip. If it was burnout, you might wonder if it\u2019s even worth it anymore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-long-does-it-take-to-get-back-in-shape\">How long does it take to get back in shape?<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s no magic formula (wouldn\u2019t that be nice?).<br \/>\nBut there are <em>retraining curves<\/em> that give us a ballpark: the more consistently you\u2019ve trained, the quicker your return will be.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly speaking:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2\u20133 week break<\/strong>: it\u2019ll take about 10\u201314 days to feel pretty good again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>1\u20132 month break<\/strong>: you\u2019re looking at 4\u20136 weeks to get back to similar levels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More than 3 months off<\/strong>: plan for an 8\u201312 week rebuild, but the upside is your progress will be way faster than someone starting from scratch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s like your body has a memory\u2014not just muscular, but cardiovascular and even psychological.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019ve done it once, you can do it again.<br \/>\nJust&#8230; maybe not tomorrow.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-get-back-into-it-without-getting-hurt-or-stressed\">How to get back into it (without getting hurt\u2014or stressed)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t test yourself\u2014listen.<\/strong> The first mistake? \u201cLet\u2019s see if I\u2019ve still got it,\u201d maybe with a tempo run. Nope. Start short, easy, and gradually build up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep it short and frequent.<\/strong> Four 30-minute runs are better than two 60-minute ones. Frequency wins over duration early on.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add strength work.<\/strong> Just two light bodyweight sessions a week can wake up your muscles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow the 50% rule.<\/strong> In week one, stick to 50% of your pre-break volume. If all goes well, bump it by 10\u201315% each week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch your head.<\/strong> Sometimes it\u2019s not your body holding you back\u2014it\u2019s your mind playing tricks. Give yourself time. Be kind. There\u2019s no train you\u2019re late for.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"your-body-remembers-and-so-do-you\">Your body remembers.
