That\u2019s when Tabata hits the spot.<\/p>\n<h2>What Is Tabata (And Why It Works)<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s not a curse word\u2014although you might be tempted to use a few by the end of a session. Tabata is a form of HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata in the \u201990s to boost both aerobic and anaerobic capacity in minimum time. The concept is simple: 20 seconds of all-out effort, 10 seconds of rest. Repeat 8 times. In just 4 minutes, you\u2019ve completed your circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds short? It is. But it\u2019s also long enough to make you want to throw in the towel halfway through. Don\u2019t. Stick with it, because Tabata works. A lot.
