I mentioned a feeling of slight instability, and it\u2019s intentional: to run, you have to lean forward, and that\u2019s exactly what the Hyperion Elite 5 make you do. They invite you to run; in fact, it feels like they\u2019re pulling you into it, as if an invisible string were tugging you forward.<\/p>\n<p>Before taking the first step, I thought the midsole was a bit too high and the footprint a bit too narrow to support me, but that feeling vanished once I was running\u2014when they push you in a way that feels natural and joyful. That\u2019s right: joyful, because running in them is incredibly fun. They are disciplined at low speeds and unleashed at high ones, ensuring a remarkable progression through the intermediate gears. Accelerating with them is an experience of pure fluidity.<\/p>\n<p>The result is a lot of fun, a lot of speed, and the feeling of having the perfect balance on your feet. The right amount of cushioning (what\u2019s needed, not the excess that makes a shoe more comfortable but also more \u201cdampening\u201d), the right weight, and the right propulsion guaranteed by the SpeedVault Race+ plate.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"run-again\">Run Again<\/h2>\n<p>An advantage of this type of shoe (highly responsive, with a significant midsole\u2014though not excessive in this case\u2014and a carbon plate) that I never tire of repeating is that they significantly lighten the load on your body. The mechanical absorption component of the DNA Gold 100% compound and the plate, combined with the very low weight, causes much less fatigue to the muscular system. The result is that after a run with the Brooks Hyperion Elite 5, you feel less tired than after a \u201cnormal\u201d run.
