Is there a people more argumentative toward themselves than the Italian people? Italians think they live in the most beautiful country in the world, too bad for the Italians. They criticize everything and everyone and especially others always know how to do better what we will never know how to do.
Instead, there are so many things we can do well and even very well, without necessarily copying others but simply doing them in our own way. Like music.
This is a selection that is not exhaustive or even indie, if Italian indie ever existed. Maybe some you know (definitely) and some you don’t. Some are recent, others are a few years old. They were chosen out of pure personal taste and because they have a sometimes invisible thread that binds them: the writing, the environments, the instruments.
I often have no idea what they mean myself but whatever: I hum them and still see the passion behind their composition, the hours in the car on the highway to go play somewhere, the clubs where you get paid very little, and that typical Italian thing: there are the right and wrong things, fashionable or unfashionable. And then there are the things that only Italians can do.
