GARMIN BEAT AWARDS 2021

It was anevening of strong emotions that just took place at the ceremony of the Garmin Beat Yesterday Awards 2021, the annual awards that the Italian headquarters of theAmerican brand has been bestowing, for the past six years, on sports projects that have particularly distinguished themselves.

On the stage of Spazio Gessi in Milan, the combination of passion and determination was celebrated in an evening – hosted by Matteo Viviani – full of Intense and inspirational tales. Here are the awardees of the 2021 edition:

Marco Martinez: boating down the Arno River to Turkey.

For the “marine” world, Garmin awarded the feat of Marco Martinez, who sailed south from the Arno River, continuing eastward and reaching Turkey. An extraordinary journey carried out by an inexperienced but passionate crew. Marco, 25, was honored by Michele Cannoni of Team Luna Rossa.

Enrica Gouthier: a dream along the 170km of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc

For running – trail in this case – the award went to Enrica Gouthier, who completed the UTMB after a five-year preparation. A feat, 170 km for 10,000 meters of positive elevation gain, accomplished by fitting training into the daily commitments of a working woman and mother. Presenting the award to Enrica was mountaineer Hervé Barmasse.

Wolfango Poggi: on the pedals to raise money

From Florence to Belgrade in eight days on his bicycle: this is the cycling feat of Wolfango Poggi, through which he managed to raise a sum of more than 10,000 euros that was donated to the Novak Djokovic Foundation for the expansion of a kindergarten in a village in Serbia. Motivating Wolfango’s desire to dedicate his business to a country he calls “his second home.” Awarding him, Norma Gimondi and Alessandro Ballan.

Domitilla Quadrelli: new mother at Swank Rally of Sardinia.

Model, biker, mom: Domitilla’s is a special story, which began on the fashion runways and continued in the mud of offroad two-wheeling. In the sixth month of pregnancy Domitilla decides to sign up forthe Swank Rally of Sardinia, a two-wheel rally. A dream come true-and upon arrival to greet her, her newly born son. A feat honored by world-renowned endurist Alessandro Botturi.

Roberto Carnevali and Manu: in the mountains to meet each other

Walking in the mountains is more than just a hobby for Roberto Carnevali, who for 21 years has been facing the biggest challenge of his life: trying to build a relationship of communication and mutual understanding with his son Manu, who has an autism spectrum disorder. Their excursions have been able, little by little, to unite father and son, creating a closer relationship that is open to dialogue and exchange of emotions. A touching tale, honored by the evening’s host himself.

As stated by Stefano Viganò, CEO of Garmin Italy himself, this year’s edition brought together “cinfive worlds, five stories, five personalities and five goals, with their associated fears and complexities. All united by one thing: passion and the will to succeed.”.
