There are running shoes that, season after season, become benchmarks. Not just “new releases,” but trusted companions through thousands of miles and thousands of runners. The adidas Adizero Boston 13 is one of them: an iconic model, newly updated and built for fast-paced training.
More cushioning, more comfort
The new Adizero Boston 13 has just been unveiled by adidas, and this thirteenth edition is far from a simple refresh. At the heart of the shoe is the Lightstrike Pro midsole, now upgraded with 13.8% more foam. What does that mean? That the Boston 13 feels softer, more responsive, and more comfortable—especially when the workouts get intense and the pace picks up.
Like the previous version, the midsole still combines Lightstrike Pro with Lightstrike foam, working together with ENERGYRODS 2.0 to ensure more stability and a firmer, more grounded feel with every step.
So what’s the result?
The increased and more strategic distribution of the softer compound, along with a new stack height and a 6 mm drop, gives the shoe that “forward snap” feeling during toe-off.
And while cushioning matters, overall comfort makes a big difference too. The new Boston 13 features a padded tongue and heel collar that hug the top of the foot. You can feel the upgrade, especially during longer, tougher workouts. The upper stays made of engineered mesh, providing breathability exactly where you need it.
Lightweight grip: meet the LIGHTTRAXION outsole
The update doesn’t stop at the midsole—it continues underneath. adidas introduces the LIGHTTRAXION outsole to the Boston line, previously tested on the high-performance Adizero Adios Pro 4. This solution helps reduce overall weight without compromising grip or traction—still ensured by Continental rubber in the most high-impact zones. Grip where it matters most, basically.
The perfect training partner for the Adizero Adios Pro 4
With more comfort and a fully redesigned midsole—but still plenty of DNA shared with the Adios Pro 4—the Boston 13 is the ideal training shoe if you’re planning to transition toward the faster, race-day-ready model.
Sure, the Boston 13 weighs in at 258 grams and was built with speed in mind. That makes it perfect for quality sessions, intervals, tempo runs—basically anytime you need a responsive shoe. But the added comfort makes it surprisingly pleasant too.
A perfectly balanced ride.
EQT: a special edition for true fans
And because running is also about stories and legacy, adidas is celebrating the legendary Boston Marathon with a special EQT (Equipment) edition of the Boston 13. This retro-inspired color palette nods to the original adidas gear kits from 1991—a true throwback for those who want to run fast with a touch of vintage flair.
When, where, and how to get it
The special Adizero Boston 13 EQT edition (FTWR White and Pure Teal colorway), along with the full kit, will be available starting May 5, 2025 in select stores, on adidas.com, and via the adidas app. More colorways of the Boston 13 will drop on June 4, 2025.
