The trouble with thirst is that it is a delayed mechanism: by the time your mouth feels dry, you are already mildly dehydrated. This is why building a proactive hydration plan is crucial. We aren’t all built the same: some runners barely sweat, while others look like they just climbed out of a pool after three miles. How to Perform the Sweat Rate Test in Three Simple Steps

  • Step 1: The Dry Weigh-In. Before you lace up your shoes, use the bathroom to empty your bladder. Then, weigh yourself completely naked (or in minimal undergarments) and log your exact baseline weight.
  • Step 2: The One-Hour Run. Head out and run for exactly 60 minutes at your target training or race pace.
