  • Interpersonal presence: Sharing a stretch of road or a hard climb with someone creates social interaction that solidifies the memory of the experience lived.

Why Short And Intense Runs Stay More Than Long And Repetitive Ones

There’s a widespread illusion that only high volumes or extreme distances deserve a place in our memories. From the neuromotor and neurobiological response perspective, however, a short outing characterized by ruthless pace variations or adverse weather conditions produces a far more marked memory trace than twenty kilometers run at steady pace on a familiar route.
