Warm Run 2: Of course Dorando

This is not the first time we have told you about Dorando and their very special running apparel offerings. In fact, Dorando was the brainchild of three runners from Turin who decided one day that all they wanted to wear for running was natural fiber garments and they made them. And then they decided to sell them.

In fact, the special feature of Dorando products is that they are all NO OIL, that is, they do not involve the use of any synthetic fiber. And if for summer there is Lenpur® fiber obtained by processing the pulp of white spruce, for winter the choice falls on merino wool. Once again a natural and regenerable fiber.

A different and ancient feeling

Touching and wearing it feels ancient, as if this were the fabric in which the legendary Dorando Petri (a name the Turin-based company celebrates not by chance) used to run: worn it is soft but opaque to the eye, while being in the cut contemporary and up-to-date.
It’s kind of like saying the modern version of technical clothing made with ancient wisdom and tradition. And it is also a celebration of a spinning technique that performs extremely well in sports use.

The “trick”

The fabric of the Warm Run 2 winter line(jersey and leggings) is not just any fabric: it is pique, which is a special weave made by overlapping a taut weft and a “looser” weft.
The piquet fabric from which they are made is slightly raised rhomboid cells (or 3D, said in more up-to-date terms). The advantage is the softness and breathability of the membrane, which is amazing both in mild temperatures (I tried it in weather that did not require such opaque clothing) and in cold weather. If the weather in short is clement, it protects but does not overheat, while it is decidedly thermal in colder temperatures, thanks in part to the merino wool fiber.

A natural antibacterial

Dorando Warm Run employsCrabyon fiber on the inside of the leggings, where you sweat the most. It is a fiber obtained by crushing the shell of crustaceans. It is a process invented in Japan that results in a natural antibacterial fabric. Translated: clothes that even sweaty do not smell and can be used multiple times, thus also consuming less detergent (twice as green in short).

Pockets. I love the pockets

Would you also run with your cell phone, house keys, and not even the pockets of Eta Beta be enough for you? One thing I really loved, especially about the jersey, is that it has a large back lumbar pocket, capable of really carrying several items. I don’t know about you, but my pockets are never enough. Except for the Warm Run ones: those are plenty enough.

Back to basics

Not everything has to be obtained from oil (no oil), and tradition continues to teach us that the lessons of the past can be applied to the present: to achieve environmentally friendly fabrics and garments with modern performance. But with a natural and respectful intelligence and sensitivity. Human in the end.
