This article should tell you about La Sportiva ‘s new Spring-Summer 2022 collection, and it will, don’t worry. However, there is another equally important topic to mention while talking about it, and it is the one on which the philosophy of the Trentino company has been based for a few years now. We could sum it up by saying “Respect for the environment, not just words,” and we would have already given an idea. Let us look at it in more detail, however.
In virtuous cycle
You may have already seen these symbols: they indicate that the materials from which the garments, shoes, or generally the items you purchased are made from recycled materials. Simple, right? What people normally pay less attention to is what they mean: they indicate a circle, from which nothing comes out and everything is reused. In other words, nothing (or as little as possible) is wasted.
La Sportiva’s focus is on making products that adopt only recycled materials wherever possible, sourced, for example, from what was once a plastic bottle that instead of ending up in the sea became a polyester fabric. Their efforts stop not only at this but also at the use of organic fabrics for garment layers or insulation layers, again made of recycled materials. And where it is more difficult to recycle due to technical issues, the invitation is to resole and breathe new life (and new miles) into the shoes that have accompanied you for so long, thanks to La Sportiva’s network of certified resoleurs.
If that were not enough, even the packaging is made of environmentally friendly materials and reduced to the bare minimum size to optimize transportation and reduce or eliminate waste.
As you know we are very sensitive to these issues and so kudos to La Sportiva for this corporate philosophy that is not at all obvious.
The collection
It might sound like a traditional and “normal” collection of mountain and trail clothing and shoes, and indeed it is, at least until one realizes that recycling does not mean compromising on quality and aesthetics, but rather. The technical solutions are those that have made La Sportiva a reference in terms of quality and innovation for decades, plus there is the sensitivity to the issues of environmental respect and recycling in a substantial way that does not refer to only one aspect of the product: everything or as much as possible must be framed and solved in this perspective.
From laces to shoe components, to fabrics used in different layers in pants, jerseys and protective jackets, everything is aimed at containing waste and using us organic or recycled materials.
