Running is serious business

Runningis serious business, an activity that one must approach conscientiously and pay attention to all the details. We have repeatedly remarked how important it is to take a
medical checkup
from time to time, rest when necessary and train following the

advice from a coach

, because – especially if you want to achieve a result that is important to us
– running should be approached with conscience and self-criticism
.

There is one aspect, however, on which even the most serious runner may not be so uncompromising: clothing. Based on the assumption that dressing in good quality things.
Is indispensable for not having problems
of chafing, blisters and whatnot, it is also true that every once in a while you can make an exception to the rule and simply dress in something beautiful
and super super fashionable
. If you are enrolled in the RunLovers Club on Facebook (and if you’re not already, what are you waiting for?) you’ve no doubt already seen some explanatory photos, but if you’ve missed them, know that over the years of running, yours truly has become an expert on bizarre clothing-that’s an understatement, of course – and today I think I can recommend the top three items of clothing in my running wardrobe.

THE SHIRT.

If you think about running even when you’re at work (if you work in a suit and tie) or if when you’re on your way to a wedding and you see someone running you’d like to follow them dressed as you are, well,

this

this is the shirt for you. It is quite light and breathable, although not made of technical fabric, the print is of very good quality and holds up well to washing. And if you want to combine business with pleasure, you can rush to and from work without even changing clothes (no, just kidding, don’t do that, I’m afraid your colleagues wouldn’t appreciate it).

LEGGINGS.

We could talk about this for hours. Leggings are my strength, I have several, all beautiful, from white hexagon-patterned ones to camouflage ones, from light blue ones to classic black ones, but the centerpiece of the collection, the absolute one that every runner should have in his or her closet (and use it, it’s not like you buy it to look at it) is the anatomical one, with printed leg muscles.

A bit splattery at first glance, but that’s only a moment, then you appreciate the accuracy of the design and the comfort (they are lightweight, good for temperatures down to 5-6°). For those who want to dare a little more, I also have the

full anatomical jumpsuit

, which I use almost exclusively for the Halloween night run and for races close to carnival(hopefully you can use it this year!).

THE SOCK.

There is a lot to indulge in here, and so it would actually be better to say The Socks, because it is really hard to choose just one pair. In addition to many sports brands that make really beautiful socks, there are also “normal” socks with fantastic designs that can also be used for running, as long as you keep them in good condition and do not overuse them, because since they have seams and are not made of technical material they could become uncomfortable for the foot in the long run. For

the price they have

, a use of about ten times maximum per pair is already very acceptable, in my opinion at least.

BUT DO YOU REALLY RUN DRESSED LIKE THAT?

Obviously yes, otherwise I couldn’t have recommended any of these things to you. As said before, racing is a serious thing, and you have to approach it as competently as possible, but that doesn’t mean-and to me that’s the key aspect-that you shouldn’t have fun ,
indeed
. Putting on a nice piece of clothing now and then, a superhero or office worker shirt, anatomical pants or artistic socks won’t improve or worsen our athletic performance, but maybe it will turn someone on the street and make them smile.

And if you’re thinking that people who look at you and laugh then maybe say “but look at that fool, what a show-off,” or“a real runner would never dress like that,” or even worse“that’s ridiculous,” well ,
that’s your problem
. Put on what you like best and feels best, because the only important thing to remember is.
running is a serious thing
, and like all serious things ,
you have to do it in the best way
.

Mine is to make it .
having fun
.
