We Really Owned The Night

May 31. Here we go. We Own The Night is ready to invade Milan.
At 7:20 p.m. I arrive on time at Largo Cairoli, and the atmosphere I see just outside the subway is nothing short of magnificent.
Music, booths and a lot of eagerness to run accompany us until the start time.
Finally after a bit of “treasure hunting” I am able to find the girls of the RUNLOVERS group as well as my virtual peers with whom I have been virtually living this period of preparation for We Own The Night.
We introduce ourselves, have a chat and off we go … Ludovica and I head for the start. We are in the first rows. Time passes really fast and shortly after it is already 8:25 p.m. and everyone is ready at the starting blocks: some chatting and some still doing some stretching but we were all ready to share a passion: the love of running.
Off we go. Charged really hard, I can keep a steady pace for almost the entire race, legs slightly heavy only in the last two kilometers. Towards the middle of the race I was caught up by Ludovica, I could not keep up with her pace and let her go, falling a few meters behind.
The city on that night came to a standstill, all eyes were on this mega neon snake that invaded the streets of Milan. There were those who cheered us on, those who got angry and honked at traffic lights, those who cheered…. It was all in a beautiful backdrop of colors.
With a time of 48’32”I close these 10k with an average 4’51” in the overall ranking I am 246 out of 3042 starters; I am the 2nd of the Storytellers group to reach the finish line because Ludovica had arrived before me.
Very happy and satisfied with this beautiful experience that led me to share my passion for running with these girls day after day I really hope that this date May 31 will not be seen as the end of an experience but rather as the beginning to continue to share this passion all together.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those who allowed us to do this, thank you from the bottom of my heart to the two organizers Martino and Sandro hoping it is just a goodbye to the next running!
