This article could also be titled “Norda and the art of numbering.” The Canadian company has a habit of assigning a three-digit number to its shoes: it happened with the first model (the 001) and continued with subsequent ones, like the 002 and 003. But the 004 was never produced (and perhaps never even existed as a prototype). Instead, the 005 came next, and now, suddenly, the 008. Which isn’t exactly a trail shoe.
After the run
There’s a specific moment every runner knows well. It’s that post-run, post-workout, post-everything moment when even the shoes you love most suddenly feel like too much. Your legs have had enough, your feet are protesting, and you enter that recovery comfort zone where comfort becomes the only priority that truly matters.
This is where the magic of recovery shoes is born. They aren’t just soft slides—they’re much more. They are your safe harbor after the storm, the place where your feet can finally “come home” after giving it their all.
Not just simple slides

For too long, we’ve confused the need to take off our running shoes with the automatic gesture of slipping on the first comfortable thing we can find. Those rubber pool slides, perhaps, or the worn-out slippers that have been waiting for retirement in the closet for years.
But recovery footwear is something else entirely. They are tools designed with a specific purpose: to help your feet and legs bounce back from fatigue, accelerating the recovery process and reducing stress on muscles and tendons.
They work by offering generous cushioning and an anatomical shape that cradles every inch of your foot. They are the exact opposite of a performance shoe. While a racing shoe needs to be responsive and propel you forward, a recovery shoe must welcome you, absorb every impact, and demand the least possible effort.
Norda 008: the art of recovery
The Norda 008, as we were saying, is not a trail shoe but a recovery shoe—a new territory, but one that, on second thought, is perfectly consistent with its philosophy: active recovery. The Norda 008 Recovery Slide isn’t just a slide—it’s a recovery manifesto, an active pause that transforms rest into a moment of conscious regeneration.
Technology at the service of well-being

Developed in collaboration with Vibram, the 008 features a sole that combines Litebase and Megagrip—two technologies that mean extreme lightness and guaranteed traction, even on wet surfaces. In practice, you can truly take them anywhere, even outside the confines of your home. You’re no longer a prisoner of your living room.
The upper is made from a compound called Bio-EVA, derived from sugarcane. Sustainable, lightweight, and very durable. But the true heart of the project remains its primary function: making your feet feel good by speeding up recovery.
The Canadian brand, famous for its shoes made with Dyneema—a fabric so tough it’s used in bulletproof vests—has applied the same construction philosophy to recovery. The adjustable upper strap is, of course, made of Dyneema to ensure durability and a custom fit that perfectly adapts to your foot.
Thinking about what comes after the run
The core idea starts from an observation: why dedicate all the technology to the miles you run and not to the equally important ones in which you recover? Why treat rest like a second-rate moment when it’s an integral part of your performance?
Norda proposes its formula, based on ergonomic comfort, stable support, and an aesthetic—minimal, essential, a bit brutalist—that follows the typical logic of not wanting to please everyone, but only those who truly understand the value of quality.
Not for everyone
The $145 price tag is steep, reflecting the serious purpose behind its design. The 008 doesn’t compete with supermarket slides. It’s designed for those who understand that recovery isn’t a passive moment, but an active phase of the training process.
It’s no longer just a matter of taking off your shoes, but of actively starting the recovery process the exact moment you stop.
