Salomon’s 2021 is loaded with news. Committed since 1947 to the constant improvement of the tools used by sportsmen and women around the world to excel in performance, for next spring the French company is offering many interesting evolutions of its flagship products, especially focused on trail running, a territory that is particularly dear to it and in which it is very strong. Let’s see all the new features.
S/LAB Pulsar
In other words, Kilian Jornet’s shoe. The most technical, the most extreme, the lightest. It won’t guarantee you’ll go as fast as he does, but with Salomon’s lightest midsole ever and a breathable Matryx® weave upper reinforced with aramid fibers that makes it weigh only 170 grams (nothing for a trail shoe), it’s certainly a new market benchmark.
S/LAB PHANTASM
A real ghost on your feet: lightweight and based on Energy Surge foam with a flat tread made for running on the slopes of the Alps. The almost invisible upper made of TPU foam makes it breathable and ultra-light for a weight of only 199 grams. To forget what you put on your feet.
X-ULTRA 4
The X-ULTRA 4 series-also available in women’s versions with different morphology-is a shoe that focuses its strengths on total protection. One only has to look at the powerful midsole and toe box structure to see how well they complement the system composed of the Contagrip® MA outsole, designed specifically to provide maximum grip on even the most inconsistent terrain. And for the most extreme and wet situations, there are also GORE-TEX GTX versions.
OUTLINE PRISM GTX
A hybrid between a hiking shoe and a road running shoe (or even vice versa) the Outline Prism GTX is waterproof thanks to its GORE-TEX lining and has a definite grip if you venture out onto rougher terrain. However, remaining light and flexible so as not to weigh you down on your hikes and some possible runs, even off the schedule. But always staying dry.
SALOMON WINGS/PRO
Made for the most technical terrain to be traveled at speed, it has a lightened version of the ADV-C frame also fitted on the X-ULTRA 4, as well as a variant of the Contragrip sole for maximum safety on climbs and descents.
WINGS SKY
Imagine you’re a road runner and you also want to experience speed on slopes: you need a shoe as flexible but secure as the Wings Sky, stable on the Contagrip outsole and also in a waterproof version thanks to GORE-TEX.
Sense Ride 4 W and Sense Ride 4
They are the two models most directly derived from road running partly due to the use of technologies from that very field, such as Optivibe cushioning that makes them more comfortable and responsive. While not neglecting grip even though they are more devoted to even, albeit sloping, terrain.
There are so many new features in short, and Salomon is showing more and more attention to the female market (which is growing rapidly, so much so that 52 percent of the outdoor market is made up of women) with models specifically designed for a foot morphology different from that of men.
Are you ready for the spring of 2021? Salomon does.
