adidas has just unveiled its brand new Ultraboost 22, an evolution of the previous model, entirely dedicated to the female foot and developed by an all-female team.
As always, in the tradition of the German brand, the idea starts with technology and, in particular, drawing on information from a database on the foot conformation and support of 1.2 million runners. Indeed, it was precisely by analyzing the differences between women’s and men’s running that the need to dedicate product development to the special needs of women emerged, thus amplifying the comfort and responsiveness qualities of Ultraboost.
A different foot conformation (narrower) and stance (more aligned with the running direction) resulted in substantial features for the new Ultraboost 22.
The development work has in fact to a new design of the upper and heel supports, along with a different shape of the sole and the new LEP Torsion System to better accommodate the support and, in parallel, make the shoes even more comfortable.
The upper – made of Primeknit with yarns containing 50% Parley plastics, sourced from the oceans – has thus been adapted totally for the female foot, creating a narrower heel pocket, a shallower forefoot profile and a lower neck area.
The sole has been revised with a modified design and different LEP support that counteracts-when needed-overpronation due to fatigue from long runs.
In short, as Nora Wilimzig, senior product manager at adidas Running, said: the new Ultraboost 22 is designed with the intent of supporting the women’s running community by providing a shoe that is the ultimate expression of comfort and responsiveness.
The Ultraboost 22 will come to market in a magical mauve color and will be available to Creator Club members on December 2. The adidas Ultraboost will be available worldwide from December 9 in stores and online at the adidas store.
