How to avoid injuries

  • 3 minute read

Listen to “S02E27: How to Avoid Injuries” on Spreaker.
It happens to get hurt: it happens to newbies and it happens to champions. To prove it, in this episode we talk about the very strong Sara Dossena who, just back from foot surgery, says something we can only agree with: “Not running does not mean not training.”

When you are injured, consistent with the type of injury you have, you can continue to train because there is not only running and there are many disciplines that can be done alternatively.

Before we get to the point of having to choose what to do “instead of,” we’ll advise you what to avoid doing to avoid risking injury. For example, choosing the right shoes, controlling your running setting, not overdoing it, recovering.

In short, don’t expect us to tell you this time about plantar fasciitis or the injuries that can result from the prolonged exertion of running. Instead, we talk to you about how to never get to that point.

It can happen to everyone to get hurt, even in the most stupid ways or because we trip over a badly maintained sidewalk (I raise my hand) but certain misfortunes are inevitable. Instead, we focus on the very avoidable ones: the injury you get is a sign that you have crossed a line and that your body has not held up. Very often it is only our responsibility. Fortunately, it can be avoided or the risk kept to a minimum.

Another novelty

After last week’s novelty (i.e., music within our podcast), this week we put on a new outfit: the cover of Fuorisoglia has in fact changed. It is more dreamy and inspiring, and we are no longer there. We like to think of it as inviting adventure and exploration. And of course we would love to know what you think, so please feel free to tell us in the comments or verbally on Whatsapp or Telegram at 347 6818091.

Have you sent your Lovers Mail yet?

In recent weeks we launched the second season of Lovers Mail. Participate and tell your story in our Outlaw podcast-just write it down and send it to info@runlovers.it.
It is so easy and once a month we will collect the best ones and read and comment on them during a special episode. We are not interested in the chronicles of the races but in the flow of thoughts and reflections that accompany us when, one step after another, we run.
What are you waiting for to send it to us?
