New Balance has unveiled the second version of one of its flagship products in performance and extreme use. In fact, in terms of speed, lightness, and technology employed, the FuelCell RC Elite V2s are one of the highest expressions of what a race shoe can achieve, according to New Balance philosophy, of course.
Compared to the first version of this clearly racing-inspired shoe, the V2s have an even more brutally racing-inspired design: the first one, which like the V2s had a full-length carbon plate, looked more like quiet training shoes, while the V2s scream speed, starting with the midsole profile and ending with the coloring.
Fuelcell, carbon and lightweight
Its name says it all: FuelCell is the midsole material (the EVA compound modified by New Balance according to data provided by the analysis of many athletes and capable of providing the best energy return) and RC and Elite define its racing destination.
But their technology is more hidden and powerful: a carbon plate runs along its entire length and width. The upper is ultra-lightweight with powerful colorations in fuchsia and gold graphics that make it perfect for Captain America if Captain America ran a marathon (that would be a bit unfair!). An additional detail is the two-tone tread: fuchsia for the right shoe and orange for the left, a coloration also carried over to the collar padding, which is orange on the outside and fuchsia on the inside.
Seen in profile, the FuelCell RC Elite V2 has a thick midsole and a 10-mm drop, as well as details such as a no-padding tongue and a raised-neck shell for easy fit and restraint, typical of racing shoes.
The weight achieved by this concentrate of technology that is almost unseen is among the lowest: only 219 grams.
The FuelCell RC Elite V2 is available from June 10 at New Balance flagship stores and selected retailers for 230 euros.
