OOFOS, the footwear for “soft” recovery

Recovery is just as important as training, I think that is an established fact. Indeed, training and recovery should not even be considered separately: one is an integral part of the other. In fact, from the moment we end the “active” training, the “passive” training begins, that is, the reconstruction and recovery phase. And as you can easily imagine, the faster and more efficient this phase is, the more profitable the next session will be. But not only that. Effective recovery also allows us to start training again sooner.

There is another important element to consider for those of us who train on hard surfaces: the feet experience considerable stress; they are the surface on which the body’s weight is unloaded. And, especially after longer or strenuous workouts, the feet also need adequate recovery. This is precisely why I approached the testing of the products with sincere curiosity.

The first feeling

As soon as you put them on your feet, the feeling is strange: the drop is high and the OOFOAM (the special cushioning material they are made of) is super soft. It almost feels like walking on a semi-fluid surface. You really feel your weight being completely unloaded and you don’t feel any impact with the ground.

I won’t hide from you that a few hours of initial adjustment is essential, but then, slipping the
OOFOS
becomes a relief. There was an old joke about a man full of annoyances who always bought shoes three sizes smaller just to have the relief of taking them off.
Here, likewise, you don’t have to have such uncomfortable shoes to get that relief: just put your feet in the OOFOS.

Do they work?

The short answer is yes.

You don’t instantly realize the benefit you’re getting from using the
OOFOS
; as with anything, on the other hand.
Then you start paying attention to it and you realize that – it’s true! – feel less fatigued feet, legs and back with faster recovery.

It is fair to specify that we are talking about a mechanical type of recovery, related to discharge from impacts and weight. This also helps the physiological and natural recovery of muscles because the equation is simple: less impact means faster reconstruction of muscle fibers that break down during training.

Aesthetically, they are well cared for and the materials are soft and quality, which also counts. What impressed me the most, though, is the final effect, the relief, the lightness you feel wearing them.

Only caution of use: they are so soft and cushioned that they are not suitable for running in. You have to use them afterwards. ;-)
