The Light Beam of METASPEED™ RAY
The standout in the new collection is without a doubt the METASPEED™ RAY. Weighing in at just 129 grams, it ranks among the lightest carbon-plated racing shoes on the market for long distances. Its name conjures the speed of a ray of light and draws inspiration from the Japanese word “Rei,” meaning “zero”—hinting at a near-weightless feel on your feet. It’s especially designed for runners who strike on the forefoot, favoring a fast, light stride that’s further enhanced by the new ASICS FF LEAP™ foam, the brand’s lightest, softest, and most responsive material to date.
A Matryx® upper helps keep weight down while adding stability. And the updates don’t stop there—the carbon element has also been redesigned, featuring a minimally shaped carbon plate focused on propulsion without excess weight. The Dynamic Drop Structure, a kind of adaptive drop enabled by the rapid compression of the FF LEAP™ foam, delivers a more pronounced drop effect during toe-off, despite the stated 5mm drop.
