You Head Out for a Run Without Knowing Exactly Where Your Legs Will Take You
Sure, there’s the pavement on the sidewalk—but then you spot that path cutting into the park, or that dirt road along the river. And you wonder: do I have the right shoes for this? If you’re the kind of runner who constantly wavers between the comfort of the road and the subtle thrill of a trail, Brooks has you covered.
The Seattle-based company just unveiled the new Ghost Trail. But hold up—this isn’t a full-blown trail running shoe, built like armor to take on rocks. This is a true hybrid. The idea is simple—though not at all obvious: take everything runners love about the Ghost and adapt it for those who bounce between “pavement and nature.”

At the core, you’ll find the same foundation as the Ghost 17: the DNA Loft v3 midsole. So you still get that soft, protective ride—even when the ground beneath your feet gets less polished and more unpredictable.
But what makes it “trail”? First, the outsole. Brooks used its TrailTack Green compound, known for grip, with 3 mm lugs placed close together. Translation: enough traction to feel confident on “gravel and dirt,” but without that clunky cleat feel when you’re back on the road—so the ride stays smooth. The drop is a classic 8 mm, helping with fluid transitions and adding stability, especially downhill.

The technical mesh upper has also been tweaked for this dual-purpose use: the weave is tight enough to keep out “sand and debris,” but still breathable. You’ll also find some 3D-printed overlays that add lateral support and structure—without making the shoe feel stiff.
In short, the Ghost Trail looks like the answer for those who crave versatility. It’s the shoe for daily runs that can turn into mini-adventures—without needing to switch your gear just to follow where the path leads.
The new Brooks Ghost Trail will be available starting November 2025 at a suggested retail price of €150. You can find it on the official Brooks website and at all authorized retailers.
