Stronger muscles, better performance

  • 2 minute read

  • Boost muscular strength to improve performance, enhancing coordination, efficiency, and endurance, essential for both athletes and general well-being.
  • Strengthen bones and metabolism by increasing bone density and lean mass, supporting cardiovascular health and daily caloric intake.
  • Complete your training by integrating strength sessions to achieve optimal performance, accelerate recovery and improve overall fitness.

If you’re wondering why strength is so important, the answer lies in its ability to positively affect multiple aspects of your body and your sporting activity. In this article we explore the key benefits and explain why dedicating time to strength training can make a difference in your fitness journey.

What is muscular strength?

By definition, muscular strength is our body’s ability to overcome or oppose resistance through the development of tension in muscles. There are three main types:

  • Maximal strenght: is the maximum load that the neuromuscular system can sustain in a single repetition.
  • Endurance strength: is the ability to maintain prolonged effort with loads exceeding 30% of your maximum.
  • Explosive or rapid strength: is the ability to overcome resistance in the shortest possible time.

These components are critical not only for athletes, but for anyone who wants to improve performance or preserve health.

4 reasons to train strength

1. Improves muscle coordination

Strength exercises involve multiple muscles and joints, requiring perfect intramuscular (between fibers of the same muscle) and intermuscular (between different muscles) coordination. This not only increases strength but does so without significantly altering physical structure.

2. Strengthens bones

As the years go by, bone density tends to decrease and the risk of diseases such as osteoporosis increases, especially in women. Strength training stimulates mineral deposition in bones, strengthening them and making them stronger.

3. Boosts metabolism and burns calories

Muscle is a living tissue with much higher metabolic demands than fat. Increasing lean mass means consuming more calories throughout the day, regardless of age or physical activity. In addition, good muscle tone speeds up metabolism during exercise and for many hours afterward, improving the body’s ability to burn fat.

4. Supports heart and cardiovascular health

In addition to the heart, the circulatory system also benefits from strength exercises. Workouts focused on muscle strengthening have been shown to improve blood pressure, vessel function, and metabolism. All this not only supports cardiovascular health, but also amplifies the benefits of aerobic activity.

Incorporate strength into your training program

Dedicating one or two days a week to strength training, especially during specific preparation periods, can significantly improve your sports performance. Strength exercises will help you become more efficient, resilient, and even healthy.
